License Validation Check FAQ
Starting with JUTLAND, Our games require periodic check in
with the Storm Eagle Game Servers to verify the current status
an integrity of its' installation. This requires an internet connect
the game can access as needed.
Currently, Jutland must connect once every (7) Seven Days or it
will stop functioning until it can successfully check in. This requires
an internet connection that the game can access as needed.
If a connection is not made, after 7 days the server automaticallt releases the License to be activated on another PC or auto-reactivated on teh original.
SES License Verification Check
If you have ever walked into a Best Buy or Game Stop and wonder why there are almost no PC games on the shelf anymore, it can be summed up in one word: PIRACY.
Our games now require that a successful connection to the Storm Eagle Studios gamer server once during
a SEVEN (7) DAY Period. In technical terms this is called the License Verification Time Interval.
If have purchased any of our Licenses before, you are familiar with our 1st Generation version of this. While
It worked well, it had one major drawback. If a gamer forgot to transfer his license when he replaced his PC or his PC died a horrible death, they were faced with having to ask us to re-activate their License on a new computer.
We solved this issue with the 2nd Gen of our License Validation Check. How?
Now, there are multiple ways a License can be re-activated or transferred.
1. A gamer can transfer any and all of their Licenses to another PC simply by using the Shift F-12 License Storage back to their account on the SES Game Server. At that point, they can re-activate those License(s)
on a totally new PC. The transfer will not complete unless verification on both the Server and the gamers PC takes place. If it fails half way into the transfer, it aborts and the game returns to the state before the transfer was attempted.
2. If you PC gets a bad virus, you files become corrupted, or you have to re-format your hard drive, after you fix your PC issues, a simple re-install and update of the game on the same PC can will allow you to re-activate your License(s).
3. If the worst happens, you sold your PC, it got replaced, it crashed, or you have been away from home for a while and miss your games, all you have to do is wait 7 days at most, and you can re-activate your License(s) on any PC you wish without having to request another via email! Because Seven days have passed, the old License(s) no longer function! When they connect to the game server, they are voided because you re-activated them on a new computer, which had to connect for validation!
4. If you have not connected in 7 days, teh server automatically releases your Licesnse so it can be activated on another PC or auto-reactivated on the same pc the next time you connect.
In theory we could have picked any length of time for the License Verification Time Interval. We selected Seven (7) days because this was the best balance that would allow a gamer to play our games on a trip or vacation, give the gamer total control of the License Management without having to contact Storm Eagle, and protect our products from Software Piracy.
Several major Game Publishers have announced that they will be returning to the PC market because of this type of tech. A few gamers will not like it and will refuse to buy games this way. We understand how they feel, but this type of tech is etched in stone for us.
JUTLAND Demo Activation
The Demo Edition of JUTLAND must be registered via an internet connection or the game will not function.
If you do not enter a valid email when prompted for Demo Activation, the game will not allow access the next time you attempt to play.
If you do not enter a valid email, you will not receive a Demo Activation code.
Please do not contact our Tech support to request one. These are generated automatically by the server and are created based your computer information. It is impossible for us to retrieve it for you.
If you missed the first opportunity to enter your email on the first go, when the game boots up, select the "about" button. When the dialog opens, select the "User Contact Info" button and enter your contact info. When you close the dialog, the game will connect to the server and generate a new DEMO Activation Code and send it to you.
Our activation servers will send the Demo Activation code to you from support@stormeaglestudios.com . If you do not receive it, your suspect email folder in your email program grabbed it.
We have removed the 30 Day time limit on the Demo Edition of our games and now allow an almost unlimited use within the structure of the End User License Agreement. The trade off is that an advertisement will load each time you run the game.
